Debra J. Santos was born in Cleveland, Ohio on July 12, 1957. Debra’s love of learning was apparent from when she was young, and her determination led her to overcome challenges in her path and exceed expectations in everything she did. Debra’s family has created The Debra Jeanne Santos Social Entrepreneur Scholarship to honor her memory and inspire others to exceed expectations

She had two children,who were the catalysts for all that she would accomplish in her life. She began her academic career after her children were born. Debra held a CPA license and had her own CPA firm, Santos and Associates, early in her career. She authored two books, and was a founding member of a city charter school, Ingenuity Prep. 

Debra traveled around the world, sharing her passion for education, literacy, filmmaking, and individual and group empowerment through entrepreneurial opportunities, such as short-term rentals.  Debra used the term “social entrepreneur” when describing her career. Wherever she lived, she set roots, mentored people, and touched many lives. Debra held a BS in Professional Accounting, a MBA, a MS in Technology and Telecommunications Management, and a Ph.D. in Divinity, and was pursuing a second Ph.D. in Organizational Management.
